26th Cameronians
« on: Saturday 02 April 05 17:38 BST (UK) »
I have a Alexander Smith in my tree who was born Fife Scotland in 1811.

Looking to find out more about the 26th Cameronians and his ancestors/descendants. Have some details as my husband descends of his line.

I don't really know of how to go about researching Scottish history, is it the same principal as English with parish records and the like. And also of the details of his children who were born in India and Ireland.

Also interested in his army career where at the time of his marriage he was a colour sergent

Hi Amanda
if you type in 26th Cameronians Scotland, or something similar it should bring up site's that might be of use to you.I find doing it this way is far quicker than searching site's one by one. It also helps in your learning curve. Hope this helps
