Beckingham lookup
« on: Tuesday 10 August 10 10:31 BST (UK) »
Dear all

I have an ancestor, Hannah Keyworth, who the IGI tells me was baptised at Beckingham Parish Church on 8 Apr 1792, parents John Keyworth and Mary.

I am wondering whether anyone can find more in the PRs about these two parents, when they married, whether they had other children, when they died.

If anyone has access to the Beckingham registers I should be most grateful for this help.

Further to this I have found a couple more children born to this couple (on the IGI), ranging from 1787 to 1804 – which seems quite a large range. But what it seems to indicate is that the marriage would be before 1787.

Hi

There is also a John Keyworth bapt 5 Feb 1810 to John & Mary.

Beckingham is covered on the Phillimore marriage index, but they don't appear to have been married there.

I did find this marriage that could be Hannah

Samuel Garnett of North Clifton & Hannah Keyworth 27 July  1818 at Beckingham

Hello,

I have looked at the PR's for Beckingham, no further info on them.
I do know that your John was the miller in the village, does that help at all.

Hi,

There isn't a marriage here in Beckingham for John and Mary Keyworth.I wonder if there is a clue with John Keyworth of Sturton farmer marrying Sarah Finningley of Beckingham by licence, she had parents consent
10th Sept 1814.
the Sturton I  think, would be Sturton le Steeple not to far from Beckingham.

You also mentioned burials,Ive checked from 1700 through to 1853
1798 july 2nd Thomas buried son of John and Mary Keyworth.
1815 June 19th James son of John and Mary buried age 19 yrs.
1828 June 5th Joseph of Pear Tree Hill Beckingham age 43 yrs
1828 May 13th Mary Keyworth of Walkeringham age 67 yrs
1825 March 25th Joseph Keyworth of Pear Tree Hill  age 12 yrs
1853 Oct 21  Jane Keyworth Curtis  infant.

I hope you find these of interest, Pear Tree hill is just out side of the village of Beckingham.

Hi Scratchandfamily,

I am also decended from John and Mary Keyworth.  Some kind Rootschaters found some information for me on this thread (although I'm not sure if there's anything there you dont already have):

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,110622.0.html

I recently found some more information on my Beckingham ancestors on the following site although I havent attempted to see what's there for the Keyworths yet:

The ask for a small donation if you want to join this site although you can do some searching without joining.

Best of luck!
