How do i track down an lost uncle that went from Ireland to America.  He is on a ship in 1939 to New York.  Does anyone know how i will track this man down

Are you trying to find him in U.S. records?
If so 1939 is after last available census and vital records are kept bu the individual states. Without knowing his age it's difficult to give advice but you could try U.S. Social Security Death Index (www.familysearch.org)- if you know his date of birth or it's an uncommon name you might find him listed.

Hi THanks for that.  I found one John Somerville.  His date of birth was 10 dECEMBER 1899 BUT ON THE Social security it says his date of birth was 6 Jan 1900 could this be the one

Sometimes the year or day of the month is different from known details but usually a person remembers the month they were born so I wouldn't assume you've found him yet.
