Looking for family Keegan in Pateley Bridge - please help
« on: Wednesday 18 August 10 21:06 BST (UK) »
Please help me as I have been searching for long time to try get the right birth certificate for Mary Keegan and her 2 sisters - so far failed as all come back different fathers and mothers!

Sarah A Keegan (according to 1911 Census) 30 - Hemp Drawing Machine Minder
Mary Keegan(according to 1911 Census) 28
Nellie Keegan (according to 1911 Census) 26 - Hemp Drawing Machine Minder

My grandad Bernard Keegan, who was born Pateley Bridge 1910 - but lived in Low Laithe.

All of them lived in low laithe.

I would appreciated any advice or information how to get the right birth or death certificate however we do not know when they died or lived after 1911. We think they carried on living in Pateley Bridge, but my granddad ended up in Queensbury very young boy - not sure how old - married my Grandma. (sadly both have died this is why we would like to research the family if possible. Grandma side is fine just Granddad side - is difficult one.)

Look forward to hearing any response to this message.

Hi Sam

Is their birthplace Pateley Bridge on the 1911 census?

Hi Sam,  :)

Assuming I have the correct family and it isn't a massive coincidence, in 1881 their parents are Bernard and Mary Keegan and their ages :

Sarah Keegan, age 4
Mary Keegan, age 2
Ellen Keegan, age 1

RG11/3726, Folio 8, Page 10

Yet in 1891 Sarah Ann Keegan is 14 years as you would expect, but Ellen who would most likely be Nellie in 1911, is aged only 8 ?

Have you seen this birth for Sarah Ann ?

Birth, Jun qtr 1877
Sarah Ann Keegan

None of the entries on the 1911 match to a birthplace of Pateley Bridge so they must have been born elsewhere

EDIT

1881 entry above checked and all were born Widnes in Lancashire

Son Bernard aged 7 in 1881 was b Ireland so parents must have married in Ireland

Prescot is the registration district for Widnes for that period

Before we go any further there's another thread, Sam wasn't to know it's best not to duplicate .. I wonder if a moderator could lock this one ? Best to continue on the one with the most posts, or have them merged !!  :) :)

Well spotted Pels

I think the info posted here is already on the other post so best locked.  Shall you do the reporting honours or shall I?
