Please has anyone any ideas why a photograph i found with a lot of other family photos would have water marked on the reverse side stating  it was

crown copyright reserved  ?? there also an A sort of crown and M as part of the watermark

 the photo looks like it was taken in a bar and it show some service men  some men in civilian clothers  and 3 Lady's  all have what looks like glasses of beer in front of them .

ok thank you  but not sure if i can scan the picture and post it because it had the crown copy right on it . thats why I asked here 1st

ah, yes, point taken...well, post the query on that board anyway, and I am sure someone will tell you there whether you can scan or not.

I'm guessing that the photo was taken by a photographer in the armed services, and so copyright belonged to the crown?

not sure who took the photo  but the group show service people and civilians

I would agree with Trystan that it sounds as if the photograph was taken by a Forces photographer - are the people in the photograph in a more formal lineup ( i.e. grouped together especially for the photograph) or is it just a casual shot

looks more like a group of  friends socialising  a casual shot

Perhaps you could at least scan in the watermark ?

If someone can then recognise the source it might help your enquiry along.
