John Prothero(e) Clodock (?)
« on: Friday 20 August 10 10:38 BST (UK) »
Good Morning

I am looking for details of my ancestor John Prothero who according to the 1851 census was a smith and born in Clodock in 1826 - 1830 ish depending which census you are looking at :)

I have tried freeREG and Family Search for christening records but to no avail. Maybe someone can point me in the direction of the correct Parish records?

I am trying to trace the line  ready for a family reunion at the beginning of September so any help would be gratefully received.

Thanks

There's a marriage in Clodock/Longtown
3rd Dec 1816  -  Samuel Protheroe married Frances Jones
there are 2 baptisms quite a few years apart
Samuel 25th May 1817
Thomas 24th Dec 1837  neither show up in the 1841 census, but the family is in Clodock
address Lin-dee (Llin-du? we need a welsh speaker)
Samuel age 49 ag lab not born in county
Frances age 45
William age 12
Hannah age 6
and France's mother
Johannah Jones age 85, widowed blind?

If this is John's family then he's already headed off in search of work

Good evening

Thank you so much for your efforts :). Have been away for a few days and this was fab to come back to!!

As a relative beginner it is just so exciting to be able to potentially link the family this far back.

Will look up the references supplied and will do a bit more digging

Thank you once again
