« on: Friday 20 August 10 15:09 BST (UK) »
This is a picture i found with a lot a cousin sent me . It is in perfect condition but have my doubts about it being one of my family.   the cousin who sent it was adopted by my uncle , when he married her mother . I have afeeling she may have put it in with all the family history things she sent to me to do with my uncle. but would be good to be able to return it to her with some information  After she was so kind to  return all the family history photos and paper to the blood line family :)

sorry I am not good at dating stuff, but I would think maybe the early 1900s.
but if you look at the print you could maybe trace the date by finding out about the photographer. Carl Cloud ,Bolten and Manchester!
good hunting.

Leonora,
It  looks like your soldier is an Australian, probably a member of the Australian Imperial Forces of WW1, The metal shoulder title probably says "Australia" and the shoulder patch although unable to see what colour it is could be a brigade patch within the  2nd AIF Division, it was formed in July 1915 from troops already training in Egypt just ready for Gallipoli.

Leonora,
All I am saying is that the shoulder titles look like Australian shoulder titles and the divisional or brigade patch looks like the 2nd AIF patch and during WW1 there were tens of thousands of AIF troops and Canadian Troops in the UK, arriving and departing to theatres of war.
So maybe he got lucky and met up with a good looking girl, and she is, and a fine photo it is too.

Good luck in your search,

James

Thanks James  not sure what AIF  mean ?

but as my  some grandfathers family ( brothers)  did imigrate to australia  it's possible then that  one of them could have been sent back to the UK after he inlisted in the Australia Army

and he does the more I look at him  have the Kelly eyes :)

 thank you so much
