No, the declaration of intention was submitted in 1923 and the petition was issued in 1928.  ;)

The Social Security Death Index also has an Edward Doherty born 5 May 1893 and died Aug. 1968.  Last residence was Brookline, Mass.  That seems a little closer to the birth date you have than the 1894 birth date mentioned above.

Which also fits with the WW2 draft I sent you earlier.

Perhaps you may be able to work out if Mrs Annie McVeagh of 61 McTreley's Way. Roxbury was related  ;)
