Aghadowney, according to information on Ellis Island, Stephania SOKOLOWSKI arrived in the USA on the Brandenburg from Bremen on April 11, 1904. She was single and 16 years of age. She travelled with Josef and Sophia Sokolowski. Their place of origin was Wolki. The relationship of the three Sokolowski to the person who was their contact address in the USA was stated as: cousin, brother in law.
It is this contact person and address that has been giving me problems. ( see the image attached to the initial post of this message thread).
I think that Trenton is the correct city as I’ve managed to track Stephania ( Stella as she called herself ) as a married woman in Trenton, firstly in the 1910 census until her death, in Trenton, in 1978. Thanks, Ann, for the stab at Scranton which I won’t rule out. Mayers Court (or Hayers) is what jumped out at me, too.
Danchaslyn, thanks for getting things going with Dr. ? Tom MacKenzie but the Slavonic name that annmck suggests is more in keeping with the ethnicity of the people/ person with whom I am dealing. I have been trying out variations on KLETSACKY but without much success, thus far.
I would love to know Stephania’s sponsor to carry my research a step forward – by going backwards.
Thanks,
moli
