Boduka
« on: Sunday 22 August 10 20:35 BST (UK) »
I have just found the marriage for a relative of mine and the bride has the last name of Boduka, could anyone tell me please where this name would have come from. It sounds very exotic to me, but then I have a vivid imagination. Any help or thoughts would be very much appreciated.
kind regards Susan

Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

What country is this in, Susan?  Have you been able to check the original document to see if it's an accurate transcription of the name? The only references I've found in a quick web search indicate that Boduka is a west African name.

Thank you so much for your replies PrueM and Lizdb the country they married in is England, I have not been able to trace the family back as I have very little information regarding the lady as yet, it was just the name that certainly didn't sound English.
Kind regards Susan

Are you able to give a bit more information about the marriage (obviously not if they are or may still be living). I don't see any Boduka marriage in England/Wales, though without knowing dates I suppose I may be looking in the wrong sources :)
