Hickey family

In my attempts to trace our Welsh?Irish ancestors I can see that many Irish came from Cork to South Wales from 1850 onwards. OUr other branch of the family tree is the Hickeys and Hallanans (Aleen) on Census later on.

I know John Hickey  from Cork maried an Ellen ? also from Cork and they had Mary Hickey  born 1850 in Cork and possibly a Patrick.
Mary Hickey marries a Cork lad called Cornelius Hallanan. born 1847
By the 1871 Census  Mary, Cornelius and Mary's parents have moved to merthyr in Wales presumably hoping for better work etc.

Does anyone have any Hickey family from Cork at all or any suggestions where I may find details of them?

One point to note about the IrishGenealogy website is that it only includes RC records, and for west county Cork and City. North and East areas of the county are not included.

I also have a John Hickey as an ancestor, mine was born 1820 in Cork and married at Reading  England bringing up a family.  The only clue I have is that on the Hugh Wallis site before it was taken off,  his Fathers initial was I.
Could anyone  suggest who the Father or Mother is?
I did find out there are a John Hickey baptised  10 Nov 1820 of Barrack Clonakilty.
Jno Hickey of N/R Enniskeane
        or
Johannan Hickey of N/R Ardfield & Rathbarry all baptised 1820

Hickey is a fairly common Cork surname, so you need a detailed location to check if records are available, and if so to narrow down which Hickey family your John belonged to - i.e.the town, townland or parish. You also need to know what denomination your Hickeys were.

When did your John marry ?
If it was in England/Wales after mid 1837 then it's worth chasing up his marriage cert, as this will show father's name and occupation, which might help..

thank you for reminding me of marriage cert. Just checked free BMD to refresh my memory, John Hickey married Mary Abbott sep quart. 1839 in Reading,  he must have been  aged 19/20. 
Shall have to buy that cert.

I have the copy of John Hickey and Mary Abbot marriage 1839 Reading John Hickey was full age Mary Abbot a minor.
 I also have the children of the marriage
one is Jeremiah Hickey married Mary Froud b 1841 Bradfield Berkshire
married 1865 in Reading. I would like to know who her parents were?
Could some help me please.

1851 UK census. Mary froud. b. beenham berkshire age 9
Parents David Froud, Mary a Froud, siblings, Harriet 10, elizabeth 6, David 4, Ann 1

1861 UK cenus  Mary Froud b. beenham berkshire . Age 19
Servant. Paddington, st stephen Middlesex
