can anyone decipher info in this census
« on: Monday 23 August 10 15:07 BST (UK) »
Can anyone make out, decipher or guess what any of the writing in the 'Where born' area of the following 1901 census says ??

From the 1911 census I can see that John Dogherty ( we've always spelt the family name Doherty ?!? :o)  was born in Co. Londonderry, and  there might be some reference to Magherafelt, but apart from that I'm at a loss....

Many thanks  :)

Thanks for moving my post Aghadowey...this is a far better place since it does seem to something to do with Londonderry.
Excellent ideas so far everyone....although I don't like the 'poor house' idea so much  ;) Boom House/Hall sounds interesting though.
Keep the suggestions coming.

Nearly certain it says Boom Hall. Birth certificate should confirm place of birth.

1. Boom Hall L. Dery
2. probably Annaghmore Co. Dery
3. Magherafelt
4. Do. (for ditto)
5. Do.
6. my guess is Mullghboy L D for Mullaghboy (Magherafelt Parish), Londonderry
7. Newry
8. Belfast
Kincaids (Kincade, Kinkaid, Kinkead, etc.) of Counties Londonderry and Tyrone.

Gardiners of Ramelton, County Donegal.

Thanks for all the help everyone.
I've been googling Boom Hall ( like I say, I like this option better than the poor house  ;) ....because I thought it was an area of Londonderry, but it is actually a stately home. Until I  track down my Great Grandfathers birth certificate, would it be feesable to think that HIS parents worked at the house or on the estate ? Or would it be unlikely that the child of a servant would be born at the house ?
