RICH family
« on: Tuesday 24 August 10 11:48 BST (UK) »
hello,
I wonder if anyone can help me gather more info on this family and try and identify Charles Rich junior.

A Charles Rich, junior, who I think was most likely born at Dauntsey or Christian Malford in or around 1734 to Charles Rich, Yarnmaker in Dauntsey & Christian Malford, and Alice Bailey (or Bayly) was probably the Charles Rich, junior buried at Christian Malford 22/9/1759.
(his 13 other siblings are all registered in parishes Xn Malford 1719-1732 & Dauntsey 1733-1740 but not him! There are possible gaps for his birth in 1734-35 & between 1737-40)

His mother Alice's will in 1763 doesn't mention any son called Charles but mentions a daughter-in-law Amy Bollin.

Charles Rich senior (his father) was buried Christian Malford 19/4/1759 and his will bond dated 1/9/1759 mentions a Charles Rich of Lyneham, yeoman.  A later bond for Charles Rich, father, dated 4/3/1780 names an Isaac Bolling of Calne, Clothier.
Their is a marriage bond giving a proposed marriage of an Amy Rich to an Isaac Bollen, Sergemaker at Calne 15/4/1762. Isaac Bollen is later named as bondsman to the marriage of an Emma Rich to William Wayte, junior, of Calne, at Calne 7/11/1776. William Wayte and wife Amy had at least 2 daughters Harriat b. Calne 26/6/1777 & Catharine, b. Calne 1/11/1779 (both bap. Calne 21/1/1780).
There are the burials at Christian Malford of Charles & Emma, both children of Charles & Emma Rich on 30/4/1761

Lastly I found on Family Search the marriage of a Charles Rich to an Amey Cook at South cerney, Gloucs 10/10/1754. She was the dau of Henry Cook & Amey taylor, bap. South Cerney 15/10/1730.

My theory is that Amey Cook marr 1) Charles Rich junior in 1754, had at least 3 kids, Charles & Emma both bur 1761, and Emma marr 1776 Wm Wayte. The names Amey, Amy & Emma I think are interchangeable?? Amy then marr 2) 1762 Isaac Bollen who was still alive in 1780.

If anyone has access to the Lyneham and Calne parish or other records could they have a look for any other info on Charles Rich, of Lyneham in 1759, and other info on Isaac Bollen, his wife Amey and her daughter Emma Rich Wayte & Wayte family.

Many thanks,

Craig
