Joseph Havelock Morgan
« on: Tuesday 24 August 10 17:18 BST (UK) »
My Great great grandfather  Joseph Havelock Morgan was a Marine Enginee. I cannot find him on the 1901 census for St Woolos which is area he lived with his wife Annie (nee Thomas) and his daughter - my grandmother Clara Louisa Morgan.  I do not know whether he was at sea possibly and if so I dont know what ship.  Does anyone have any info  on any of these and also where can I find out about the ships going from Newport. He was born in 1857. ::)color=Purple][/color]

I imagine you've seen the 1911 census?  everything matches, Joseph Havelock a marine engineer born Newport, Mon, but he's in Greenwich with his wife of 16 years Ruth (Goldsmith), it says children of this marriage 1, children living 0.  they married in London in 1899 so their arithmetic is a bit out, unless they included years where they co-habited.  Their marriage is the only Joseph Havelock Morgan marriage I can find, but there are Joseph H marriages.
Hope I haven't given you more problems? I couldn't find them in 1901 either.

Hi, Thanks for that info.   It is the right Joseph Havelock on the 1911 census and it has brought a little skeleton forward for me to research.  It appears I am the decendent of a common law marrraige of J H and Annie  Thomas. He then married ruth in London area.  Trying to find out now how and why he left.
