Hi there Lady...
I am researching the Rich family of Hailsham and surrounding areas.
I believe your George Rich born 1815, may be the brother of my Henry Rich born 1810 - my GGGG grandfather - though I have yet to prove it.

If you would like to contact me to possiblty share information, please do.

Found this possible marriage om FreeBMD...

Marriages - December Quarter 1847 - Rye District - Vol 7 page 755
RICH    George

There are three men but only two women listed on the page (a Rebecca and a Dinah) but it could be your George as the Rye District covered the village of Brede, and the timing is about right.

Hi gougy,
thanks for that, I think it's a different George Rich though that married Dinah Durrant - these two were working together as servants in the 1851 census. That George was born in Peasmarsh and our George was born in Hailsham.

I am sure you will already have this but in 1851 (HO107 1634 F554) George's place of birth is unknown.  The other useful fact is that Richard is age 1 month.  It should be easy to find his birth certificate and that will give you Harriett's maiden name.

That's right, but in 1861, it's Hailsham.
