Fleetwood Barracks 1867
« on: Monday 04 April 05 21:53 BST (UK) »
I have just traced an ancesters place of death as Fleetwood Barracks in 1867.

Can anyone tell me where these are (they do not exist now and family are not aware where they used to be in Fleetwood)? Or point me in the right direction to find out more?

Thanks :)

Can you please provide the name and age at death of the person you are looking for.

Fleetwood Library have monumental inscriptions on microfiche. If you have all relevant details I will try and find the record for you.

The name of my ancestor was Ralph Gardener. I believe he died on 10th Jan 1867 aged 25yrs.

The above information is from the Cockerham records where his family lived. I don't know if he was buried in Fleetwood or Cockerham.

Your help is greatly appreciated! :)

I was unable to find a burial record at Fleetwood Cemetery. you may wish to check out the records at Cockerham to see if he was buried there.

The Fleetwood Barracks ( Euston Barracks) was built on land at the Euston Hotel. the Fleetwood Library have documents relating to the Barracks but there is no information on personnel.

The Lancashire Record Office at Bow Lane Preston may hold such records. Failing that you could write to:

Army Records Centre
Bourne Avenue
Heys
Middlesex

Sorry I could not be any more help.

P. S. I have you checked out the website of Gardners from Cockerham

Hi,
The Euston Hotel was the barracks, my grandmother was born there 1874 it was then used by 91st Foot reg. This I believe was a training barracks for officers.

There was also another Barracks in Ribble road, off Poulton Road also Beach Road had something to do with this.

These are only things I have been told as a child (the Ribble and Beach Road Barracks)

But the Euston is fact.

The Fleetwood Chronicle has some interesting old photos and I know one  at least was of soldiers, but I think 1914.So maybe they have more.

Hope this is of some help
