Langthwaite who owned properties request 1940's

My gran was left two properties I have some old papers relating to them .They were left to her by a realtive , its this person and how they fit into my tree which I am trying to find out about.

One property was "Brig End " cottage Langthwaite which was rented to a Mr French in  may 1945 sold to Mrs Coates 1948.
The other does not have a name on only may 1945 serving a notice to quit to a Mr taylor at another cottage in Langthwaite .

All i know is that my grandma had connections with family in Arkengathdale , Langthwaite ( i dont know what) and she was left two cottages by a relative .I have been tracing her line but never come across relatives in Langthwaite so I am curious as to who left her these properties.
Any help appreciated.My grans maiden name was Charlton.
