 :(Apparently the Bryan Family came from Kilkenny it has been very difficult to find any of them my ggrandfather John Bryan mariner came to NZ about 1866 on his death cert it states he was b Glasgow c 1839 family stories are he ran away to sea from Ireland after a fall out with his family can anyone shed any light on this  Thanks

Hello Harriet,

Several families named Bryan are shown in Griffiths Valuation which took place in Co. Kilkenny in 1849-50 when the valuation took place in the County. John would have been 10 or 11 years of age.  There are a number of Johns shown as head of household so if the John for whom you are searching was named after his father you may have some success. http://www.failteromhat.com
