Birth look up please
« on: Monday 30 August 10 17:48 BST (UK) »
Hi all
please can somene look up the births of my grt granparents. Joseph Davis 1848 and Elizabeth Fleming Dec 1852 (also used Lizzie, Eliza and Lilian) I have been told both were born in Carn Low Co Donegal. I have confirmed they were married in Milford Presbytrian Church and have that record, at the time they were both living in Loughros Glebe. June 1870.
Thank you
Liz

Civil registration of births started in 1864 so there will be no birth certificates. For earlier dates you have to search for existing church records. To do so you need to know their relgion and where they lived (parish if not actual townland).
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Marriages usually take place in the bride's church so don't assume the groom was also Presbyterian.

Perhaps someone with local knowledge will be able to help but Carn Low comes under Ramelton D.E.D. in 1911 census. There were 3 Presbyterian churches in Ramelton at a time. Information on those 3 (and other Presbyterian churches) listed here-
