my GGG Grandmother was Catherine Stanley born 1825 in Atcham, Shropshire.  Her father was Benjamin Stanley born abt 1796 in Astley, Shropshire married Elizabeth?.  I have his job as gardener.  Wondered if anyone could help me find out more information about any of them.  Would really like to find out where he was working but have no idea where to look.

Are you certain Benjamin was b Astley Salop??

1841 census he is living in Astley - p.o.b. "yes" = born in Shropshire

1851 He is living in Canton Cardiff glam and gives p.o.b. as Shrewsbury Salop

1851 Living in same place as 1851 and p.o.b. given as Westbury Salop

Occupation in 1851 is Market Gardener -so he maybe worked for himself

sorry, you're right - have got the 1841 census mixed up with the place of birth (have too many bits of info flying round!!!)  I was wondering whether he may have worked at Attingham Park which is at or near Atcham.
