115th Infantry 29th Division POW
« on: Saturday 04 September 10 15:45 BST (UK) »
My father landed on D-Day and was captured in July.  He was captured at Saint Lo and spent most of the war in Czechoslovakia as a POW.  He escaped and lived in a small town until liberated by the 3rd Army.  I'm looking for the debriefing papers following his return.  His name was Elmer V. Mastrangelo and I believe he was in HQ Company.  Any information would be appreciated.  My oldest son is now a Master Sergeant in the US Army PSYOPS and would love to know the full story as they were very close until my fathers death.

Thank you Bernard.  I went on their site a few years back.  They could only give me where he was held, when he was reported back in Allied control and things like that.  His service records were destroyed in a fire (1978?).  There is an NARA location down south, maybe in Virginia, that I was told by a colleague (I'm a history professor)where all the POW debriefing records are kept.  Some day I hope to find it.  I was just hoping against hope someone here may have some information.  The search goes on!  Thank you again.
