Looking For Info On The "Rogers" Family From Dorset
« on: Wednesday 08 September 10 11:48 BST (UK) »

 Hi

 I'm searching for any info that might be out there regarding the ROGERS family from Dorset, specifically MARY ROGERS who i believe may have been born abt 1888.

 It would appear that in 1907 she had a child by the name of Clement Andrew Jeff, the fathers name was Andrew Clement Jeff and i think the birth may have been in the Wallisdown area.

 I'm not sure if Andrew & Mary were married, i did find a marriage entry for a Mary Rogers in Wareham in the Sep qtr of 1906 but i don't know if it's the same Mary.

Regards

Hi china,

FreeBMD list one birth registration for a Mary Rogers in Dorset c1888.

Mary Rowland Rogers   DecQ 1888    Blandford   5a   224

The birth certificate of Clement might help.

Thankyou for your reply NannyJan, i agree with you 100%, i think i'm gonna have to order one or two certificates to try and corroborate everything.

 To be honest i as other family members were under the impression that Mary's surname was most probably "Carter", but saying that,.....it was only heresay, the Rogers name turned up yesterday on the birth details for who i believe is Andrew & Mary's son;

 Births December qtr ref Poole  5a  230
 Clement Andrew J Rogers

 I think it likely that the " J " stands for Jeff, but as the rc member said who found this info,.. the mothers maiden name didn't appear on early birth indexes, so it might be possible her name was just added onto the childs name because as we know, gypsy children were often given their mothers maiden names.

Fingers crossed that the birth certificate solves the puzzle.  :)

However, there are quite a few Carter families in Dorset!

Good luck.
