Wildon
« on: Wednesday 08 September 10 17:53 BST (UK) »
Looking for information on Elizabeth Wildon, possibly from Huttons Ambo, born 1750 to Thomas Wildon. She married Benjamin Carr in Appleton-le-street in 1777. The name Wildon became a middle name passed through two generations to my great grandfather Herbert Wildon Carr who was a Victorian philosopher. (his works are still in print!)

I would like to know more...

Hi......no, I am not connected in any way......I was just reading the forum and had Familysearch.org open at the same time so just had a quick look!

Have you tried googling the names and see if you get any further info?

yes, I've tried that and I think Wildon may be a village in the area, but that doesn't give much..
the practice of giving the mother's maiden name as a middle name is quite common, but i don't know how common it was for the name to pass through two or more generations.
