Hello Bodger

His parents (Walter Frank Welsford / Louisa Willis) didn't marry until 1909.  There is a birth of a Frank Richard Willis registered in West Ham in the 1st qtr of 1901.  Although I see that his older sisters' births were both registered in the surname of Welsford.
There are WW1 pension records for a Frank Welsford of 31 Cullman Street, West Ham which note that his correct age according to Birth Certificate was 16 years 28 days on 7 Sep 1916 - this Frank gave his father's name as Frank.

Not sure that any of this will help - but perhaps worth investigating?  Dazey

Hi Bodger

Frank's sisters are on the 1901 census with him:

Elizabeth Welsford - qtr 1 1898 - West Ham
May Welsford - qtr 2 1899 - West Ham

1901 census
RG13; Piece: 1571; Folio: 14; Page: 19

31 Harcourt Road, Plaistow, West Ham, Essex (2 rooms)

Walter Welsford, 24, organ grinder, b. Old Ford, Middlesex
Louisa Welsford, 23, wife, b. Glasgow, Scotland
Lizzie Welsford, 3, b. West Ham, Essex
May Welsford, 2, b. West Ham
Frank Welsford, 1m, b. West Ham

There are then more possible children born 1911 onwards (when the mother's maiden name was given in the birth registers) so probably more between Frank and:

Walter - qtr 4 1911
Benjamin - qtr 1 1914
Marie - qtr 2 1916
James - qtr 4 1918
Maud - qtr 1 1921
Marie - qtr 2 1926

Dazey 99, not quite sure how to handle this because of  the " living" possibility.
I am doing the Welsford research for a friend, i have progessed to the next generation via BMD.
Frank, b. 1901, m. 1923, Ada E . Anderson, b.1901, they possible  had family  on Free BMD, from Charles S., b. Mar. 1923, to, Sandra J. b. 1946,
My friend says  that some of the names match, but that the only sure thing he can remember, his that his father, b. March, 1937 had a younger brother David.
So does anyone have a record of a David Welsford, born post 1937 ?
PM me if you have, it may prove that we are on the right family
        Thank You, bodger

Hi Micko, welcome to Rootschat, re your query, i live in Ireland in a town callled Oldcastle, co Meath, and one of my drinking companions is a John Welsford, (scaffolder), he is aware of my interest in genealogy, and asked me if i could find anything regarding the same, hence my interest.
On the Welsford side i got back to Samuel, b. 1835 Exeter, m. 16/8/1859, Charlotte Taylor Litton, b. 23/1/1838, Lympstone, Devon. on the Litton family the earliest, is, George Litton, b. 1617.  Note none of the  tree is authenticated, the research being done all online.
When you have posted 4 messages you can the use the PM (Personal Mail) facility, on there you can write details that are personal etc.
