BAKER Family in Dowland/Dolton, Devon

1. Elizabeth b1740 Dolton
2. John b1743 Dowland
3. Ann b1748 Dowland
4. William b1752 Dowland
5. Richard b 1755 Dowland - my direct ancestor - married Mary Balkwill 1783 at Hatherleigh, Devon
6. Robert b1757 Dowland

i am also researching Bakers from Dowland.  My gt gt grandfather was Simon Baker born 1809 Dowland.
Have you come across these Bakers?

Ive got a Simon Baker baptised 9 May 1803 Dolton who married Eleanor Cockwill 10 October 1831 Dowland. This Simon was one of nine children born to Richard & Mary (nee Balkwill) my direct ancestors -5x ggps. Would be very happy to exchange information!!!!!

Back in 1968 I transcribed the parish registers of Dowland and Dolton to compile my brief History of the Baker Family of Dowland. All my notes are in the Westcountry Studies Library. I did compile family trees, and think I have a typescript somewhere. Pretty well all the names in this thread look familiar. My aunt married Norman Frederick Baker of Dowland Mill.

And from memory the earliest ancestor I found was a Bartholomew Baker of Holsworthy father of Valentine Baker parish clerk of Beaford, but that's from memory!
