Sue, if there's no luck here, try the Mitchell Library, Glasgow. Skoosh.

There is no trace of them on the 1913 Valuation Rolls for Union Street but there is an entry for them in the 1927 Directory at 136 Union Street
In the 1943/44 directory they appear to have several shops in the area
136 Union Street, 55 & 57 Gordon Street where they are described as Watchmakers Jewellers & Silversmiths
A separate listing shows Muir & Sons Jewellers at 160 Argyle Street and at 26 Union Street

Hi Sue Lewis,
Just joined an found your post of last year on Muirs. I believe I am a distant relative and searching for the link between Thomas Muir 1855 and Archibald Muir of 1755. Thomas was my G. Grandfather and my father was Thomas Muir Ross. Did you mange to find the family that ran the business? somewhere between 1755 and modern times around the 1950/60's
