The best way to order certs is using the references from the BMD Index. These are the index details that fit the possible death which aghadowey mentioned earlier :  :

 Name: Esther Fanning
 Registration District: Dublin North
 Event Type: Death
Quarter and Year: Apr - Jun 1901
 Age : 21
 volume : 2 / page : 443

see : Ordering Certs from GRO Roscommon

Thanks Shane

I think I know why now I've gone back to the website and looked properly. I was ordering online using my credit card but if you actually read the FAQ's it will only let you order death certs from 1924 onwards so I suppose I'll have to write to them and see if that works. Though goodness knows when I'll be able to get to the bank to get some Euro's.

I had written the death in the additional info box but obviously they looked at the 1924 date in the box above.

I'll get there in the end I hope.

Margaret

You can fax the order to the GRO in Roscommon with your credit card details on it.  I've done it lots of times.  Their form is badly designed for researching, it's set up for living people.  Make sure to include the details Shane mentions above and you'll be fine.

I hadn't thought of faxing it thanks for the idea.  :)
