Love you for ever if you can solve this one!!

I have Thomas Deakins born Buckland in 1838, I have him with his family in Reigate Foreign in the 1851 census. After this he disappears off the face of the earth.

Now I have been talking to two ladies that have been writting a book about a Thomas Deakins and a Rachel Franklin, they are descendants. They have Thomas Deakins & Rachel in the 1881 census in Cheam (but surname spelt Deekins) it says they don't know where they were born (a usual ploy as they hated officaldom) whilst they know everything about Rachel they know nothing about this Thomas Deakins.

My questions is................how can I prove these 2 Thomas Deakins are the same person?

I have been finding the Deakins spelt about 6 ways, but that is certainly them! I can trace Thomas up to the 1851 census but then he disappears. I need to prove he's the same Thomas Deakins that married Rachel Franklin.

I have tried to find the youngest birth  but I just don't see it do you?
 It is noticible that they are not good with their ages as well as their surname. If they could not read nor write other people would write their name phonetically or how thet thought it should be spelled!

That's the father, Thomas Keyboard, I am looking for the son Thomas Deakins born 1838 Buckland, Surrey. I have him up to the 1851 census with his parents then nothing. However, my friends Thomas Deakins first appears in the 1881 census (under Deekins) with a wife called Rachel, but I dont know if this is MY Thomas.

Cardiff the birth record I have for phoenix is under the name Felix Johanan Deakins born Buckland 1840.

Hi Cardiff, Yes that is Thomas's sister Caroline, her husband John Thornton and her Mother, Elizabeth. I have that record, many thanks.
