Vicar near Fenton. Vicar lists?
« on: Saturday 18 September 10 19:21 BST (UK) »
Hi
Angus Hutton died in 1826 in Fenton, a vicar or former vicar. Does anybody know if there are ecclesiastical lists which would help me identify his probable parish for a friend? He is not on the "clergydatabase" site.

Hi,

Found this in the The Newcastle Courant etc January 21th 1826.

Died the 14th inst. at Felton, Northumberland, aged 67, the Rev. A Hutton, who for upwards of 41 years officiated as curate of that parish.  Greatly respected by all his parishioners in life, his death will be much felt and lamented.

Regards,
Mo

Have a look at the Bishop of Durham transcripts - Felton - from about page 41 onwards. Angus signed off the returns from about then onwards....There's plenty of evidence of his handwriting!

Don't know of an official lists, sorry.

The parish register entries (1765-1837/1841 mainly from the Bishop's transcripts) for Felton have now been transcribed for FreeReg, most of the baptisms below are already in the database and the rest will be available after the next update

Baptisms for  children of Angus Hutton and his first wife, Sarah, :
 Jane , 27 Sep 1785,
Thomas 03 Jun 1787 (burial 31 Dec 1787)
 Sarah 19 Feb 1789,  (burial 21 Feb 1789)
another Sarah 14 Sep 1790 (burial 07 Feb 1792)
another Thomas 08 Mar 1792
Rachel 14 Aug 1793
For each of those baptisms, the father, Angus, is recorded as The Reverend and their abode is Felton

His wife, Sarah was buried 01 Oct 1801 (age 52)

Angus remarried (to Margaret Walker) 30 Apr 1806 and was recorded on that entry as The Reverend too
This marriage  was by Licence and the Allegation is on the LDS pilot site ( images 307 and 308 for 1806)
