Hi Peter
Don't know if you have got this , but on http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl
Frank Baker is born in the Dec quarter 1885 in Sculcoates, which I believe is part of Hull, and Emily Atkinson is born June quarter 1884 , again at Sculcoates. You will need to send for their birth certificates to get their parents names, addresses etc.
You can also find their marriage - Dec quarter 1905, again at Sculcoates, which would give their father's names, ages, occupations etc.
Hope this helps

I think this could be Emily in 1901
RG13/4490/68/35
5 Central Street Sculcoates
Harry Atkinson 42 Oil Boiler
Hannah wife 39
Emily 16 box maker
John W 14 hairdresser
Harry 12
Ernest 7
Lily 2
Eliza Atkinson 74 mother in law
All born Hull

Now why would Eliza age 74 be down as Harry's mother in law when she has the same surname? Unless Hannah was an Atkinson or Harry's Mum married an Atkinson.

Dec 1/4 1881 on the same page FreeBmd
Marriage Sculcoates Reg dist. vol 9d page 291
Harry Atkinson and Hannah Watson

I searched for a Harry Atkinson and a hannah between 1881 and 1886 in East Riding

So if this is your couple hannah is a Watson not an Atkinson and Eliza age 74 is likely to be his Mum.

Wow. So quick Thank you crisane & goldie61 I have a lot of the details you sent, but both of you provided me with some extra info with the 1901 census.
What I would really like if there was any Baker / Atkinson families out there who are in possession of a photograph of them, but I guess thats a long shot.
Anyway thanks again

In those days the term "in law" could refer to what we would call a step relationship so it is possible that Elizabeth was a stepmother, or it may just be an error.  Bit more ferreting needed!

I don't know where Bagsypenang lives
But if he's local to Hull or Beverley I would advise him to either visit Hull City Archives or Beverley Treasure House
Yorkshire BMD shows Harry Atkinson / Hannah Watson married 1881 All Saints, Sculcoates, a search of the parish register will show fathers names , occupations where they lived , witnesses etc
Remember the Parish Register is the original document
Yorkshire BMD shows Frank Baker / Emily Atkinson married 1905 St Paul, Hull, same applies
I would also look at the Christening records for the same churches, people tended to use the same church, details vary some give both parents names, some only father, usually have address

Photographs and a coincidence
Went to the library in Beverley today, part of the Treasure House (archive centre) a bit of an open day with a tour behind the scenes, there on the wall in the part not generally open to the public was a picture of my grandfather, same picture that used to be at my grandparents, hopefully they are going to do me a copy

Boyes     Beverley, Hull
Allison     Beverley, Hull
Bowser   East Yorkshire

Thanks SteveJW for the information provided. Glad to hear you got or will be getting a photo of your Grandparents.
Unfortunately I will not be able to visit Hull or Beverley archives as I now live in Penang Malaysia and the East Yorkshire buses don't run this far out. I was originally from Hull, I will be back in the UK next September so perhaps I can do some more hands on work then. I have a lot of the census details and names going back to my x3 Great Grandfather I just don't have any photos of my fathers parents.
