Birth & Parents of Charles HUGHES

Hello,
I am researching this ancestor in my mother's line.  Charles was born in ca1817 in the Cowes area, IOW, Hampshire [ according to the 1851-61-71 UK censuses]  I cannot locate birth records before 1837, and do not know his mother or father's name.  I do not know when he left the IOW, but he married in 1840 to a Margaret Armstrong [ born 1816 in Carew Ireland] in Manchester, Lancashire. They had 4 children --Charles H, Mary J, Pearson, and Alfred.

I hope you can assist me in finding out about Charles.
