Offer: History of Boston Lincs
« on: Friday 01 October 10 12:48 BST (UK) »
I have a copy of "The History and Antiquites of Boston" by Pishey Thompson 1856, reprinted by Lincolnshire Heritage Trust 1997. It covers Boston and nearby villages and is packed with information useful to researchers of the area. Look ups welcomed.

Scarth None
Mplethorpe None, but there is a reference to a Robert de Mablethorpe who was appointed a Justice in 1318 to deal with disturbances in the area. In the same year, he was also appointed along with others to review the banks and sewers in the area after severe flooding over several years. For those who don't know the area much of Boston is at or below high water level, and flooding has been an ongoing problem in the town for over 700 years.
