Bristol -- CURR(E)Y, HAWKINS, CHALLENGER
« on: Thursday 07 April 05 20:59 BST (UK) »
George HAWKINS (supposedly from Somerset) marries Frances Mary CURREY 26 Feb 1826 at St. Augustine the Less, Bristol ... subsequently children Georgina Currey (born 1828 London), George (born 1834 Bristol) and Frances Mary (born 1836 Bristol) are baptized St. Pauls or St. James. George dies before 1851 and family moves to Glamorgan to join the Dyer family, cousins of Frances Mary.  An aside ... two other people with a last name of Hawkins married at St. Augustine in 1824 (Ann) and 1825 (Charlotte) ... have no idea if they are related!

Frances Mary CURREY is the daughter of Robert Currey and Mary CHALLENGER, married 1798 at. St. Augustine the Less.  They had several children christened at St. Pauls.  Robert appears to hail from Bristol and Mary appears to have come from Wrington.

That's the long and the short of what I know about these families though the Hawkins family has been traced to Glamorgan and tracked there and I do have the Currey family in the 1841 and 1851 census and the Hawkins family in 1841!

Any help with these families would be greatly appreciated!

Diane :-)
