Richard PEARCE Monmouth Rebel
« on: Monday 04 October 10 00:21 BST (UK) »
executed in Glastonbury in 1685.  I have no further information about him.  He MAY have been the Richard Pearce who married Mary Cuffe in Taunton in 1670.  I wonder if anyone here has any information about him.

Hello

Found this site previously:
http://keilulas.99k.org/colestips/Pearce.htm

It claims that he married Grace Mead and had a son George....

it's a very small world.... that bit was taken from from a posting I made previously trying to verify that (extremely suspect) factoid!

Thanks for responding...

Hello SantaT,

I have just purchased a second hand book titled, "Monmouth's Rebels" and I will look to see if your ancestor is mentioned in this.

There must be some records of the trials and sentences as I was given information on an ancestor of mine who was sentenced to deportation to Australia by Judge Jeffreys in Taunton Assizes in 1685. This was, "for his part in the Monmouth rebellion". I suspect the court records are still in existence, these could be in the RO.

I will get back to you but it may be after the weekend.

Jo.
