Mary Ann James look up
« on: Thursday 07 October 10 11:16 BST (UK) »
Hi

Can anyone help us find Mary Ann James b record. She was b @1847 (according to 1881 Census). The nearest on FreeBMD is Jun qtr 1846 Wellingborough 15 428 - though Wellingborough doesn't seem to include Welford!

Some MAJ b/baps on Family Search, but not sure which is correct. Need an 1851/61 Census to help with parents names.

Also cannot find her d record. She m Richard Markham in 1887 and is recorded on the 1911 Census. He d 1921

Thanks

1851 HO107; Piece: 2078; Folio: 459; Page: 6 Welford (Lutterworth District)

Parents John & Ann.

has her aged 7 - viz c1844 - and there's a Birth Index entry in Lutterworth that matches.

Moving on to 1871 - Piece: 3220; Folio: 83; Page: 28 - with parents in Welford, now c1845

Think I see her in Service nearby in 1861 - consistant YoB

Added: 1891 RG12; Piece: 2498; Folio 58; Page 1 with Richard Markham, she is back to YoB c1845

Given they were in Leic (Oadby) in 1891 / 1901, this might be her death?

Deaths Mar 1919

MARKHAM  Mary A  76  Nuneaton  6d 1030

Thanks Mort29

I cannot locate this d record for either on FreeBMD or Ancestry. Where is it? Is Nuneaton really that near to Oadby?

Thanks seahall. Can you give me the full census which includes James in 1861. Elizabeth H and Eliza Amelia James were his daughters?

So many of the Markhams and Taylors were bur at Welford Rd, it needs a trip to Leicester in the New Year for which I never need an excuse

Hi again sft456.

You queried James James being the father of the Grave Inscription
I noted.

On freebmd their is a possible marriage of James James to
Elizabeth Mary Purser in the Jun qtr 1882 Uppingham District.

http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/reg/districts/uppingham.html

On the 1891 census in Welford they have children.

Florence M, Walter, Eliza A.

On the 1901 Census Welford
Eliza A, 13, Elizabeth E, 5.

I suppose the "E" could have been noted as Ellen rather than Helen?
