Morris Family from Llanddaniel Fab
« on: Friday 08 October 10 11:18 BST (UK) »
Hi,

Looking to find  the family of Henry Morris and his wife Jane (nee Evans). A large family - nine children all born Llanddaniel Fab -

Mary 1878, John Evan 1880, William 1882, Robert 1884, Ellen 1886, Owen 1888, Henry 1893, Maggie 1895. and Sarah 1899.

In 1901 the family were living at Colwyn Cottages Llandanniel Fab with 5 of the children at home, all of the children seem to be single (some were servants at other houses).

John Evan i think then married a Maggie Jones in 1908 and in 1911 he was living at Gesail Gam, Llanddaniel Fab, with son Edward (1909) and daughter Jane (1908). Edward possibly married in 1932 but I think died in 1984 age 74.

Has anybody any idea what happened to the others?

Any information would be appreciated.

Alan

Have you checked the 1911 census for the rest of the family?

The free index shows 2 entries for an Owen Morris b Anglesey - one living in Holyhead and the other in Devonport

Sarah was only 12yrs old in 1911 so should be with parents (if still alive)

The 1911 is copyright protected and we are not allowed to post info that can only be obtained via a subscription

Hi Carole,

Thanks for your input.

I know that Jane Morris was still living in 1911 (she may have died in 1935) at Glangou, Llanddaniel Fab with 3 children Robert 27, Ellen 25 and Sarah 12 (all single) and a grandson Walter 6. her husband Henry having died in 1903.

No details of the others to date.

Alan

Hi TallAll, sorry for responding to such an old thread.

Owen Morris (born 1888) lived, worked as a farm labourer, and raised a family in the Llanddaniel area. He died in 1968 and is buried with his wife Mary (nee Griffith) in Mynwent Capel Disgwylfa in Gaerwen.

If you have any further details from the Morris family I'd be interesting to know more.

Hi and Welcome to Rootschat,

Thanks for your reply, we are here to try and help if at all possible.

I had forgotten this post, but was doing this on behalf of my cousin who is a relative of Jane Evans.

He now has more information about the family which has been acquired since the original post was made.

How can we help?  Are you related?

We can communicate by private messaging service after you have posted 3 replies but for now please outline the details you are interested in discovering.

Incidentally I thought Owen Evans had died in 1966 age 78 (born 1888) in Anglesey East. There is a death in 1968 age 75 (born c1893) in Anglesey West but wondered if you had the death certificate to confirm which one is correct?

Regards

Alan

Hi,

Oops - did you spot the error!

Sorry I referred to Owen (1888) as Owen Evans instead of Owen Morris.

My apologies for this.

Alan

Hi and thanks for replying. Unfortunately, I don't have a death certificate for Owen Morris, but I've gone back and checked my photos and I've clearly misread it - his dod was August 3 1966 (not 1968). Photo of the headstone attached FYI.

I am a descendant of the Morris family, who were well known and good sorts in the Llanddaniel and Gaerwen area. I'd be happy to share and exchange what I have with your cousin.

Hi,

I am sure he would like to get in touch - if you post at least one more post I should be able to contact you by personal message instead of this open forum.

Who is your direct relative from the marriage of Henry and Jane?

Hope to hear more

Regards

Alan
