Hello CJF,

It is difficult to know what information you already have. The first people you mention are Nellie and John Timoney in Chicago, there are census records for this couple and family, is it information off these you are after ?

John and Ellen O' Brien also show on Census Record.

Would you have any dates of birth for the Breslin family - I can see various possibilities in New York -  i.e  -  A passport application for a Dominick Breslin (31st May 1892) names a father William (deceased) also contains a photograph.  ???

A Passport application for Edward McGrath from County Donegal with a father John (Edward born April 11th 1894)  ??? (With photograph)

A Passport Application for Michael McGrath from County Donegal with a father John
(Michael born March 28th 1893)  ??? (With photograph)

You may be able to pick information up off some census and other records here:-

Sandra

Hi Sandra,
These are indeed the people we are looking for. Dominick Bresllin & McGraths. We found some information on the familysearch.org website. Only for this, we would have no information at all. My partner Stephen is descended from all these people. Nellie Timoney is a sister of Stephen's maternal great-grandmother. Dominck Breslin & McGraths are on his paternal side of his family. This information is brilliant. We're delighted and thank you so much for your help. Where can we access the passport applications? We'd love to see the photographs. (See if there's any resemblances!) :)

Found Nellie & John Timoney on census for Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. We also found out that they had a baby that died from diptheria in 1911 We were able to view death certificate on Familysearch.org website. We'd love to know if there are descendants of all these families living in Chicago today.

Donegal Hoteliers Receive Lifetime Awards for Outstanding Contribution to Tourism
Donegal hoteliers joined with industry representatives last night to present Mr Dom Breslin and Ms Phyllis Boyle with lifetime achievement awards in recognition of their outstanding contributions to tourism.  The awards were presented by An Tánaiste Mary Coughlan, TD, and Matthew Ryan, President of the Irish Hotels Federation (IHF) at the IHF Donegal Branch’s 2009 Annual Ball. The event also saw both Mr Breslin and Ms Boyle become the first two inductees into the inaugural ‘Hall of Fame’ of the IHF Donegal branch.

Mr Breslin is the proprietor of the Doms Pier One bar and restaurant and was previously the owner of the Abbey Hotel, which he took over from his father in 1958. Mr Breslin has worked tirelessly to expand and develop his hotel throughout the years and has successfully transformed it into one of the leading music venues in the North East, attracting artists such as Joe Dolan and Christy Moore.

Ms Boyle, owner of the Ostan Gweedore Hotel and the Seaview Hotel in Bunbeg, is well known throughout the industry. Having inherited the Seaview Hotel in 1958, Ms Boyle and her husband went on to open the Ostan Gweedore in 1970 on a stretch of 84 acres on the Gweedore coast line.

Speaking at the Annual Ball, Paul Diver, Chairman of the Donegal Branch of the IHF stated, “It is a privilege to recognise both Dom and Phyllis for their dedication to tourism throughout the years. They have made truly significant contributions to the industry and to the overall success of tourism in Donegal. On behalf of everyone involved in tourism in the North West, I am delighted to have this opportunity to honour their hard work and congratulate them on their achievements.”

Hi,
This is great news. Thank you so much. We were wondering was Dominick father to Dom Breslin of Dom's Bar in Donegal! Looks like we were right. It's also interesting to note that Dominick's sister Mary went to America in1920 sailed back to Ireland and returned to States in 1924 A sister Winifred also emigrated as did a sister Ann who was married to John Padian. Looks like brother Connell was only sibling who stayed in Ireland.
You have given us so much information. Stephen's father's family are originally from Frosses/Mountcharles area of Donegal and now live in Ballyshannon. As we live in Wexford we're relying on internet to track down a lot of people. Do you live in the States? Also, did you get my e-mail address?
Again, many many thanks.

Regards,
CJF
