« on: Friday 08 April 05 11:56 BST (UK) »
Hi Could any one spare some time to look up Eliza Florence Parker for me in the 1861 census.  Her father is a Richard Parker and  she gives her birth place as Liverpool.  She also married in West Derby Liverpool. That's all I Know so far... So here's hoping.
Thank you
Wendy

Liverpool covers 7 discs for 1861 so without an address it would be an impossible search.

There is a partial name index for 1861 but there are no Parker's on mine that match your names.

Someone with a more up to date index might be able to find them

Bibb - London/Staffordshire
Hooper - London
Stuart/Martin - Essex

Thank you for looking for me.  It seems that my Eliza wishes to stay annonymous!!
Perhaps, as you say someone out there may have a more up to date version and be kind enough to look for me.
Thanks again
Wendy

There is now a complete index for 1861 and I've had a look for Eliza but there are quite a number in Liverpool, none as yet that I can see with a father Richard but there are always servants not living at home.  It sounds like you have a marriage for Eliza, if so do you have her age?  If you have traced her in subsequent censuses can you work out the age from one of those, as it might narrow down the field.

Hi Mary
Thanks for your help.  When Eliza married in 1909 she gives her age as 36, so I figure that takes us to a birth in 1873.  The marriage certificate is very poor but I think her father Richard was a journeyman, does that help?  In 1901 she was living in Liverpool with my greatgrandfather Llewellyn Manley as Florence Manley (her middle name) with my grandmother Florence (6) and sister Maud (4).  In 1891 Llewellyn was still with his mother.  So I presume they got together around 1894? I can't seem to trace Eliza before living with Llewellyn.  (However, I am quite new to all this)  Any help would be gratefully received.
Thanks for your time and patience
Wendy

I'm confused.  If Eliza was born in 1873 then why are you looking for an 1861 look up?  I think you should check the 1881 census for her about 8 years old and you are able to do that yourself at www.familysearch.org.

Thanks for sorting me out (and I have to say this is not the first time I have made a bloomer).  I have also been searching for another relative who would be on the 1861 census, so I'm afraid I have confused the two.  Apologies for wasting your time and thanks every so much for your help.  This does look very possible.  I had tried seraching the 1881 census but I didn't come up with this result.  Must try harder or perhaps learn what to enter in the search boxes and what to leave out?
Thanks again
Wendy
