Divorce records 1930 - 1945

Hello,

Can anyone tell me how easy it is to access divorce records for between the above dates.

It is for the same person who married and divorced three times between these dates.

The two possible states where they would have taken place is Illnois and California.

Or possibly but not likely New York.

I know there are sites on the internet that you have to pay for. No problem in principle, but they want you to pay up front without indicating for sure they have any records for your search.

There aren't too many divorce records online and the ones that are online for California are for a later time frame, so I would expect that you'd probably have to contact the state or county where the divorce occurred.  I would stay away from online pay sites unless you know someone has had success with them.
