Annie Sophia Mongan
« on: Monday 11 October 10 13:41 BST (UK) »
Hi I am having trouble finding Annie Sophia E Mongan, b. 1870 in Sandy, Bedfordshire - daughter of Sophia Louisa Dwight and John George Mongan.

She appeared on 1881 with her widow mother in Lambeth, Surrey.

I couldn't find her and her mother Sophia after 1881.

Sophia died in 1917 and her will did not mention anything about Annie. (Sophia was born in 1836 in Westminster, London)

I am looking for census 1891, 1901 and 1911 for them and wonder if Annie got married or died after 1881 but I couldn't find any.

Can you help please?

Sophia Louisa Mongan age 74 is living in Wandsworth, which is close to where she died in Streatham,  according to the 1911 census index. You need to buy credits to get the full entry

She appeared on 1881 with her widow mother in Lambeth, Surrey.
Enumerated as MORGAN

Ive got a sub to 1911, do you still need the info?  And many Irish travellers are called Mongan and Mongon, its one of the most popular travellers surnames for Ireland.

Shes on the 1911 as Sophia Louisa Mongan. Living on Independant means with sister Elizabeth Ann Down. They had a servant named Sarah Willis.  Annie wasnt there.
Address: 6 Ellison Terrace, Ellison Rd, Streatham.
Your Sophia has been very helpful!!!  As she was widdowed she didnt need to put her marriage/children details but she did. She stated she had one child who had died by 1911, no children remaining. (Her sister had 7 children, all still living in 1911).
They also gave detailed info on their home: 3 sitting rooms, 5 bedrooms, 1 kitchen. (They would have been told not to include listing a bathroom.)

oh wow!  :D
you are so kind!

So Annie died before 1911. I have just been searched her death records but nothing!! I tried Mongan and Morgan. Why wasn't she found?

I am interested in this family. So thank you for the census information.
I am looking especially for any Mongan males from the two marriages of John George Mongan,a ships master who was the son of Rev John Charles Mongan 1798-1860  (and Bess Wallis) The Rev was one of the sons of Doctor John Mongan, brother to the Church of Ireland Bishop Mongan-Warburton.  John George Mongan married first to Annie Eliza Hare in 1857.She died in 1862 and I can find no children at all from that marriage. Then in 1863 John George married Sophia Dwight and I find only one child, the girl, Annie Sophia Emily Mongan. You might check if Annie Sophia died (unmarried?) in Belgium in 1902. I have no source now but got that somewhere.
