what information are you looking for - have you located them on the 1911 or 1901 census, do you have a marriage cert ?

I had a quick look at the BMD Index and see a few marriages for the name Patrick Stynes.. but none in 1914

see : Introduction to Irish Records

Thanks i have asked the family and my uncle william seems to recal his dad saying he was abandoned as a child but he does show up on the 1901 census aged 14 still living on meeting lane athy and his birth cert does give give his dad as patrick stynes and his mum as anne nolan living on meetings lane so i was also trying to track down a marrage cert for anne nolan and patrick stynes which may shed some more light ? Most of the info so far is what i have found from the war office records which has given marrage records and medical and a real insight to where in was and all the different places the army sent him .
i would be nice to know what happened to his parents ?
Also the family seem to have it that the first son born  a Stynes must be called patrick a tradition past down
 Any help or advice ??

warm regards Dave

Is this your Patrick on the 1901 census link ?

mistranscribed as Hynes... and a lodger with the Toomey/Loughman family.

On the birth cert for Patrick what's his father occupation ?

assuming that Patrick was the eldest child - here's a possible match for his parents marriage :

 Name: Patrick Stynes
 Registration District: Athy
 Event Type: Marriage
Quarter and Year: Apr - Jun 1886
 volume : 3 /  page : 256

 Name: Anne Nolan
 [same index references]

marriage certs show details of father's names, and occupations

see the introduction topic (link posted earlier) for details of information included on certs

the marriage record I mentioned was from the BMD index on familysearch. For a births during the years you mentioned this only shows the name of of the person born... not parents.

familysearch has some extracted births which do show parents, but this only covers some records for earlier dates
