Ellis birth lookup please

Hi,
Could some one look for 1909-1909 births for all the alice ellis' (my great grandma) born in that time in sheffield a& eccelsall please?. Id love to be able to go back furthur with this side of my tree but i need to find her birth first.

Ive checked on free bmd but im wondering if there are more births (on Genes Reunited/ancestry etc as i dont have a full membership) than the ones listed incase im missing any to check.

On free bmd they have:
alice isabel ellis march 1908 eccelsall
alice ellis june 1908 eccelsall (i think i have the cert for this one also)
alice irene ellis sept 1908 eccelsall
alice ellis march 1909 (ive ruled this one out as i bought the cert)

There's an Alice Ellis at Sheffield in March 1909.
Ref. no. 9c 552

If you have her married name and when she died, it might be possible to pinpoint her birth registration more accurately.

Thanks I had the date you found, forgot to put sheffield next to it.

I have her marriage cert and her age works out to be around 1908-1909 depending on when her birthday was.

Does Alice have a middle name on the marriage cert?  What is her father's name/occupation?  With that, it ought to be possible to find the family on the 1911 census and maybe earlier.  (We're not allowed to do 1911 lookups because of copyright issues, but you can search the index for free or buy credits at http://fmpbsol.1911census.co.uk/ )

Had a quick look at some of your earlier posts to see if there was any other information.

You have the 1911 census which gives her age as 3. If this was correct, then she could have been born between April 1907 and April 1908.

She married in 1925. Was this at Hull to a Christopher Cunnungham? What was the date of the marriage and how old did Alice say she was?
Also you gave her birthday as 14 January.
Alice Cunningham died Jan 1996 at Hull, birth 14 Jan, age 88
Was her birthday just before she died?

She isnt listed as having a middle name on the marriage cert.

Yeah i think it was before her birthday. Yeah they were married  in hull, Ive just dug out their marriage cert and it says she was married 05/09/1925 and she was 17years old. Her father was called albert edward ellis and he was a general labourer.

Hi Becky,

All things considered;
Her birthday was 14 January
She was 17 on 5 Sept. 1925
she was 3 years old on the 1911 census

I think her birth registration would be the March quarter of 1908

I would contact Sheffield register office for a birth certificate. You don't need a reference number, and you have her father's name.

p.s. Don't dismiss Alice having another christian name. Some people just dropped a name they didn't like!
