Whiting family from Maidstone
« on: Tuesday 19 October 10 03:54 BST (UK) »
I have been fruitlessly searching for the death/burial records for John Whiting and wife Jane (maiden name unknown) both of either Maidstone, Yalding or other towns near to Maidstone. I believe they were married c.1800 so deaths may have occurred after 1840 or so.
Their three sons came to Australia, although not willingly, and the only daughter Elizabeth Jane married David Wilkins 1834 in East Farleigh and died in Maidstone 1871.

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks
Max

Hi Max

In trying to get a picture of the family, I see baptisms for these two children .........

Elizabeth Jane 1813 Maidstone
Henry bp 1817 Maidstone

Who were the others and do you have baptisms for them?

Casalguidi :)

Hello Moderator

The children were John/Jonathan b. 26 Sept 1805 Yalding, Solomon b.23 Sept 1807, Oliver b.14 Aug 1809, Elizabeth Jane bp. 28 May 1813 and Henry bp. 2 Nov 1817, as you say. Father John Whiting was probably the son of John Whiting (of course !) but no other name for mother other than Jane at this stage.

Many thanks for your help.
