Hello Dan

Some enumerators had a strange idea about 'in laws'  ;D
They would sometimes put that when really it should have said step daughter.
I don't know if that's a possible in your case?

Regards

Carol

Hi Carol and Kenb,
I have never entertained the idea that Sarah was a step daughter rather than a daughter in law. I'll look into it. Thanks Carol.

Kenb, I was bafflled as well by the fact she wasn't named as a Packer if she was a daughter in law. Maybe they just wanted to make it clear to the enumerators that they weren't an item at this time. Cheers anyway.

I just thought I'd impart the following information. I have just received a copy of ANN PACKER's birth cert from the GRO (see the 1851 census in a previous post). In it her birth mother is named as ELIZABETH LEWIS.

In Pallots Marriage index I've found the marriage of a JOHN PACKER to an ELIZABETH LEWIS in Teddington, 1826. Looks about the right date.

My cup overfloweth. WOOHOO!

Thanks for everyones help in this matter                     Dan
