So I have had my mum take a DNA test and she is getting a very large number of hits to other people with family connections to the Alsace, (Bas-Rhin, Haut-Rhin, Lorraine, Moselle) France, Switzerland and just over the boarder in Germany (Baden Wurttemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate) between about 1600-1800. Finding this very interesting!!

Perks1 has written:

"I have also looked into the estate of Beebee Burnoo, my 3xgrt grandmother, which was administered in 1830/31 by a Major William Pattle later Lieutenant Colonel William Pattle."

I have a lot of detailed information on this William Pattle (1873-1865) and on the Pattle family generally.

I am very interested in Beebee Burnoo. Please contact me (new member).14 Jan 2018

Hello Lanod

Thanks for your reply.

Since my original post evidence seems to indicate that the 1830/31 Will administered by Major William Pattle is probably that of William Milne, Beebee Burnoo's partner, and father of their children. William Milne must die some time between 1825 and 1830.

It seems that Beebee Burnoo then has a liaison with an Alexander MacDonald with whom he has 2 children Mary Anne MacDonald (born 1828) and Alexander George MacDonald (1830-1873). Alexander MacDonald died in 1833 and his will and legitimizes his children with Beebee Burnoo. He states that his wife Mary has returned to England and Alexander leaves everything including his property to Beebee Burnoo.

Hope this is of interest.

Many thanks.
It appears that William Pattle had an Indian mistress and I initially thought that it might have been your Beebee Burnoo.

I’m not sure if anyone will see this as the thread is so old but I’m also interested in the Latours of India.

Claudine Rose Latour was my 3 x Great Grandmother who married John Lester Noel that you mentioned in the initial post.

I was wondering if you’ve got any further with your research? I believe Claudines father was Jean Pierre Latour Junior who married a Jeanne Rose, and his father the senior. I’m yet to verify this though.

Hi DNichol

I'm still here!

Perks who started this topic hasn't been online since 2020 but should get a notification that you have posted if their email address hasn't changed and hopefully come back soon.

Hello All

Indeed I did get a notification.

Gosh I've not looked at Roots hat for so long. I must get back into it 😉

I've struggled to work out if there is a connection between Claudine Rose Latour and my tree. I want to hope so but like you DNichol it's just not jumping out at me.

However I was in touch on Ancestry with another descendant of Jean Pierre Latour who like my mum had done a DNA test. Unfortunately there didn't seem to be any level of match which made us conclude they were separate Latour families or not as closely related as we thought. Mind you my understanding of DNA matching is not that good.

I'd love for there to be more records to help us out. Perhaps we will have more info one day.

Please give me a shout out if you ever get more info. Use this thread as it would be interesting for everyone to hear.

Me and my father have done DNA tests on Ancestry, so might help you out (or not) with the separate family theory.
