Just seen another thread of yours and this information doesn't seem to match up with what you already have  :-\
What makes you think that this is your family?

the only thing i now is that Charles and patrick is right, and that my husbands cousin got someone that he knows whom does this but she as given him the wrong info for Hugh (o')callaghan's wife. i got there marriage certificate she has not got nothing that i have.

this is what i now is Charles and patrick came from Ireland Charles is in the 1851 census in Southampton. all i now is that someone came over here from ireland as a boy. but what you have just given me would be right with what i have. Patrick could have more children from ireland. but do not now were to go do to find out.

Hello,
I remembered the name from earlier resarch and looked back.
Your Charles was a map engraver or similar wasn't he?
This Patrick is a hawker and it does say that he was born Kilkenny.

The 1843 Lambeth marriage of Mary Ann Fillis was to James Phillips.
Free BMD has a list of possible spouses and Family Search has the marriage.

Do you know that Patrick came from Ireland? It may be that he remained there or had died and Charles came alone.

I assume Patrick is from Charles' marriage certificate but I would imagine that this is not the right one.

best wishes

The Patrick Callaghan you are asking after is here in 1861 RG9; Piece: 103; Folio: 23; Page: 53  (think so anyway)

Patrick Callaghan widower 62 yrs lodger Traveller b Kilkenny
He is  in a licensed lodging house

Just read your message - there will be no information re his arrival as it was all one country then.

I think it is going to be very difficult to trace anything without a county and even then with a popular name like Callaghan.
I have tried to see if there are any records from Ordnance Survey who he was working for but don't think so - here is a link to their site
