Anglo-Boer War Records 1899-1902. Arthur Lloyd
« on: Sunday 24 October 10 22:01 BST (UK) »
I have asked about this man before but did not get anywhere with it.
From the new records on FindMyPast I have the following information

1899-1902 Soldier Details

name Lloyd Arthur
Rank Private
Soldier Number 17
Unit Railway Pioneer Regiment
Notes:
Age:
Literary References The National Archives WO127 Nominal Rolls colonial units

Units:
Rank Trooper
Number 40649
Unit: Imperial Light Horse.

The question is where can I find out information on this person to confirm if he is my rellie or not.
I have tried the NA site and A2A without sucess as I find them both difficult to use.
My Grandfather was born India 1872 to Brit Subj parents who were from Railways background who both died India
I know from Mothers tales that he was in the Boar War and missing from the 1901 census although married in Liverpool in 1897.

Thank you

I don't know whether this is any good to you.  Just fill in 'search' all fields and put in 'Lloyd' in the other search and your relative will come up about half way down the various names.   This is with the Railway Regiment.

Thank you anna,

I have put his name into the list and not found him there, he has a middle name of Cooper/couper/cowper and never found anything with it only baptism India and Liverpool records office stuff and marriage cert so not sure if he would have used it.

Thank you.

Hi Edna

What was his wife's name, and have you found her in 1901?

Ken

I have relatives that went from England to S. Africa, one to fight in the Boer War.  The names are from the Bowen family.  One is Percy Bowen St.John Bowen.  He fought and finally succumbed to dysentery or some such disease. I could go on but point I was wondering if you think you can help with this Bowen genealogy and military research on Percy.

I think that you have to log in to get any details here, but it maybe worth a try.  They have changed the site a little since I last sent a URL, perhaps that is why you didn't get any result. Anna
