« on: Saturday 10 December 05 12:28 GMT (UK) »
Hi can anyone help me with the search of Thomas Lindsay (b) 1788 I found one on Tyrone Census 1766.  but not sure if it his father or not
He supposed to have married Jane Ker. 1 son that I know of Matthew

Or anyone who would have known of a Margaret Moran

Would really appreciate any info as I am absolutely stuck

Believe Thomas to be a soldier.

Regards
Mary

Mary,

Where were your Thomas & Jane married & Matthew christened? If Derryloran then there is a good chance they are related to the 2 in 1766 but difficult to prove with any certainty. Do you know the Derryloran parish records are online, though they only start in 1797. See www.derryloran.com

On main menu, left hand side of page click on Parish Registers.

New page opens..... scroll down, see list of all available parish registers. Click on whichever one you want.

What you get is digital images of the actual registers. There is no search & find facility, just scroll through each one & see what you can find. Basically the same as the microfilm you would see at the records office, but from the comfort of your own home. Good luck.

Hello Mary,

What denomination were the Ker, Lindsay and Moran families?

You'll probably have to look at church records as the first Civil registrations in Ireland were non Catholic marriages introduced in 1845. Civil registration for all other marriages as well as births and deaths was not introduced in Ireland until 1864.

Hello Christopher
The Lindsay's were RC Matthew appears to have gone to Scotland in the 1850's apparently according to the records he had 3 children born in Ireland and 4 in Scotland befor he married Margaret Morran
in 1868.

Thomas I was wondering whether he was just stationed in Ireland or whether he was actually born there.
Matthew was definetly born in Ireland.

Cheers for now

Scottish census records, death certificates, etc.should give family information. See Scotland's People for what information is on certificates and census records and how to view them.
