On your behalf I searched Begelly registers today in the hope of finding the baptism of James John & Hester Gibby, alas whilst there are 'John' families present there is no reference to a baptism of James. There is also no reference to the surname Gibby pre 1802 which is from when I started searching for her bapt.

I quickly searched Begelly L.T.A.'s today for 1796 to see if a Gibby family occupied some cottage in the parish in this year. Alas there is no reference to the family, however I did note a Daniel John who occupies the property called Bingas at Begelly, the property in the ownership of Mrs Barloe, who owned much of the village at the time.

Hi,

I don't know about Welsh place names, but are you sure her birthplace is Lambeth, in 1851 I think it looks more like L???bwith?

Also do you think she could have been a widow when she married James as she would have been about 35?

Regards,
Daisy
