Mary Murphy 1885 Shrule, Mayo

Hi, I'm looking for help in locating my grandmother, Mary Murphy b1885 in Shrule, Mayo. In particular I'm trying to establish who her parents were. Her fathers initials may be JG and her mothers MM. Her mother left her behind in Shrule when she emigrated to America when Mary was a young girl. I think I have located Mary on the 1901 census working as a farm servant in Shrule. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I think it's a good idea to try to find more details on Mary initially from US records - as Murphy is an extremly common surname, and it would be very easy to follow the wrong family.

Did Mary marry in the US ?
A cert should show some details on her father, possibly also her mother.
US death certs and naturalization records can also provide useful clues

Sorry Shane, maybe I confused you. It wasn't my Mary who emigrated to America but her mother. Don't have any details about her mother so can't say if she ever married. Mary did marry in Dublin and I have all her details. Love to know who her parents were and the details regarding her birth.

does her marriage cert not have father's name and occupation ?

difficult to know how to narrow down the right Mary ...

you could try searching for Mary Murphy's born in the Shrule area around the right year - but I cant think of any way to prove if any of them were correct or not, except possibly by the fact that a father is not named on the cert.. and possibly your JG/MM clue

btw the Civil registration district for the area around Shrule is Ballinrobe
